1. What degree or certificate program are you seeking?

Political Science

2. Please describe your previous student government or professional experience, and how it has prepared you for this position.

I am currently the Vice President of the Detroit Lakes Campus Student Government. In my roll I was responsible for making decision involving budgeting as well as ensuring administration was aware of student concerns. I am also currently a student fellow with the National College Attainment Network advocating for change on a federal level. In addition, I am a Legislative Advocacy Intern for LeadMN with experience advocating to lawmakers and college administrators on behalf of students.

3. Why are you running for this position?

I am running for Vice President to help continue fostering a sense of community throughout the Minnesota College Network. As Vice President I would work hand in hand with the President in order to elevate the voices of our fellow students to the highest level needed, and be the voice for those who are unable to speak for themselves.

4. What challenges do you see facing Minnesota's community and technical college students?

College is expensive, time consuming, and anxiety enduring. I recognize that accessibility to basic needs is the only way to build a strong foundation in which positive educational experiences can rest. Not only do students have to worry about their grades, but paying bills, and putting food in the table. Some students are first generation with no support systems, and many are also parents who have dependents of their own. There is not stereotypical college student anymore.
