Candidate for President

Kenneth Orozco

Hennepin Technical College(Eden Praire)

Bio

My name is Kenneth J Orozco and one thing I can say is I'm persistent in never giving up and trying stupendously to help others. Some may call me a crackerjack of how supportive I'm at Hennepin Technical College, but to me I follow a simple phrase "Do the Impossible, See the Invisible". That's what motivated me to be a Student Senate President and run for LeadMN president/vice President to reach possibilities for other Colleges of Minnesota.

What degree or certificate program are you seeking?

AAS Mechatronics/ AAS Automation Robotics Engineering Technology

Please describe your previous student government or professional experience, and how it has prepared you for this position.

In 2022 September, sworn in as Student Senate President of Hennepin Technical College Eden Praire to help fellow students and bring the community together. With this role I gained more experience and found many ways to help students feel comfortable on campus and organized meetings, volunteered in food distributions, and learned to seek out invisible struggles all students face. Participating in LEADMN and learning in the workshops helped me understand, what makes a leader, and how to help and properly advocate for students.

Why are you running for this position?

Running for President/ Vice President is one of the steps that i want to take not for the role of being a president/vice but the duty to server, represent, and push for the students of Minnesota, with the momentum we've gained this year to Improve basic needs of higher education and struggles made me motivated to run for either of these positions to keep that fire burning to help support students/parents/ and my friends. Still, I follow a simple phrase that motivates me to the end" Do the Impossible See the Invisible"

What challenges do you see facing Minnesota's community and technical college students?

From my perspective, i see students face financial struggles, academic challenges, access to resources, and most importantly the struggles of mental health. But in my eyes, volunteering for Leadmn shown me how powerful students could work together and solve these problems.
