According to the #RealCollege Survey of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities , 49% of community and technical college students faced housing insecurity and 18% had experienced homeless in the past year. The issue of housing insecurity and homelessness has been further exacerbated by the pandemic and students are looking for help.

In response, LeadMN has proposed changes to the Minnesota State Student Housing Policy 2.10. In our recommended changes we ask that Minnesota State add provisions for every college to provide short-term emergency housing for students facing a crisis, connect students with shelters and programs which provide affordable housing support, and to provide a campus liaison who can connect students with off campus housing options.
