Want to be recommended for appointment to the Board of Trustees?

On June 30, 2018, terms for the community college and technical college student appointees to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (Minnesota State) Board of Trustees will come to an end.

The 15-member Board of Trustees oversees the entire Minnesota State system and is empowered to recommend conditions for admission, set tuition and fees, approve academic programs, award certificates and diplomas, enter into contracts and adopt policies suitable for all Minnesota State institutions.

Appointed by the Governor, the community college and technical college student trustees serve 2-year terms and must be actively enrolled for 2018-2019 in a Minnesota State institution.

With an April 15 deadline for applications, LeadMN will be conducting a search for qualified students to endorse for appointment to the Board of Trustees. Interested candidates should be strong advocates for their fellow students, eager to contribute to Board governance, and an enthusiastic champion of LeadMN’s mission to advance the interests of 2-year college students.

If you have questions or would like to recommended a student for consideration, please contact Policy Manager Marco Lanz at mlanz@leadmn.org or Vice President Cecilia Damian at vice@leadmn.org.

Minnesota State Board of Trustees Candidate Review Committee

As terms for the current community college and technical college student appointees to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (Minnesota State) Board of Trustees wind down, LeadMN will be conducting a search for qualified students to endorse for gubernatorial appointment to the Minnesota State Board.

To make this happen, LeadMN will establish a review committee to evaluate candidates’ credentials and make endorsement recommendations. Leading this effort will be LeadMN Vice President Cecilia Damian. The review committee will be made up of members from LeadMN’s Governing Council and Platform Committee.

Current members of LeadMN’s Governing Council and Platform Committee, who are not themselves applicants for the Board of Trustee appointment, and are interested in serving on the review committee are encouraged to reach out to Policy Manager Marco Lanz at mlanz@leadmn.org or Vice President Cecilia Damian at vice@leadmn.org.

Vice President Damian will announce the four-person roster for the Minnesota State Board of Trustees appointment review committee on Wednesday, February 28.
