LeadMN joined 110 other organizations from around the country urging Congress to remove barriers that students face when applying for SNAP.  The complex eligibility and application rules prevent many students from accessing this critical program that can help students with their academic success. 

Congress is working on a new Farm Bill and this is a great opportunity to remove the restrictions for low-income students.  The letter urges the Senate Agriculture Committee to make the following changes: 

  • Streamline SNAP eligibility
  • Maintain CRRSAA provisions
  • Expand student exemptions
