Votes & Vision: Spring General Assembly 2026

A statewide student conference that brings college students together to build community, vote for LeadMN leadership, celebrate accomplishments, and gain confidence in their professional and leadership skills.

About the Spring General Assembly

Join us Friday, April 10th and Saturday, April 11th for our Spring General Assembly (GA) taking place in St. Cloud. This conference is for the students of the 26 Minnesota State Community and Technical Colleges.

The Spring GA provides opportunities for the MinnState Community to come together, build student power, and grow our collective voice! It is also the time students elect their leaders for the next academic year! 

Attendees are able to select between multiple workshops within the following tracks: Advocacy & Public Policy, Leadership Essentials, Campus & Community Organizing, Professional Development, and Writing & Editing.

Elections for next year’s student leadership will take place on Saturday, April 11th. Those elections will include our President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Regional Representatives. Learn more about our elections here! 

Annual awards will also be distributed at the spring GA. Those awards include:

Registration, Lodging, & Costs

Registration Process

February 2, 2026: Registration opens to advisors to register students at their college. (Advisors can find registration information on the Advisor Resources page). 

March 20, 2026: Registration open to all students

April 3, 2026: Registration closes

There is no registration fee for the Spring GA and the following food will be provided – Friday snacks and dinner; Saturday breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Description: What is the Advocacy Committee? Come and find out! Learn how you can engage further with advocacy on the system, state, and federal levels through the LeadMN Advocacy Committee.

Workshop: Find Your Voice in Public Speaking
Description: Overcome anxiety around public speaking and develop a confident speaking style. This workshop provides techniques to enhance your presence, improve public speaking skills, and communicate with impact.

Workshop: Advocating for Yourself in the Workplace
Description: The workplace can be full of situations we aren’t always sure how to navigate. Build an understanding of your rights as a worker and how to advocate for yourself and others in the workplace. Add strategies to your toolbox for navigating office dynamics, negotiating opportunities, and using your voice to create positive change in your career.

Workshop: Foundations of Writing and Editing
Description: Gain greater confidence in your writing and editing abilities through an in-depth look at the writing process including tools for organizing your ideas, the mechanics of drafting, and revision and proofreading strategies. Learn how to use voice and tone effectively while building an understanding of structure, syntax, and grammar to elevate your written communication skills.

Description: Updates and check-in among campuses and LeadMN staff. What were programs / events that had challenges this year, what did we learn from that, and how can we grow through those lessons learned? What were the biggest successes of the year and how can we build on them next year?

Description: In this midterm election year primer, you’ll learn what will be on your ballot in 2026, top to bottom, from national to local offices. Understand the roles and responsibilities of different levels of government and build confidence as a voter and advocate.

Workshop: Foundations of Organizing on Your Campus: Plan into Action
Description: Organizing on your campus can be a daunting task. In this workshop you will take the skills developed in the Foundations of Organizing on your Campus: Learn Your Role and apply it to developing a campaign strategy. This workshop breaks down the many components to enacting change on your campus into smaller, more tangible pieces.

Description: Connect with Student Senate Presidents from across the state to discuss the highs and lows of activities on your campus. Build and plan for stronger programs based on what you can learn from your peers.

Workshop: Art and Craft of Storytelling
Description: Learn storytelling techniques and frameworks to identify, craft, and share your story. Whether you are interested in writing your own story, crafting a story for a project, or creating stories to inspire action, this course will develop your skills in organizing, describing, and writing your narrative.

Workshop: Creating Meaningful Partnerships 
Description: Doing this work alone is next to impossible; how do we develop partners in change? In this workshop learn to identify your partners. Discuss how recruiting strategic partners throughout your campaign can build power and lead to success.

Description: Strong leaders build strong teams. Learn how to create a culture of inclusion, recognize the strengths of your team members, and lead with a person centered approach.

Description: Let’s dig into resource creation and sharing! What trainings and resources would be most useful for campuses? What is the overlap of needs compared to what is available within the Certificate Program video series? Overview of LeadMN’s Incoming Leaders Training and materials that can be shared as templates (such as transition reports, board agreements, etc). Discuss the best format and distribution method for sharing these resources.
