He/Him

Marco Loera Alvarez is a student at Rochester Community and Technical College, where he’s wrapping up his Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. After graduation, he plans to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in public health to learn how policies can improve communities and public health.

Marco first got involved with LeadMN while attending RCTC and quickly saw the powerful impact it had in advocating for students at the local, state, and federal levels. This inspired him to run for Vice President, a position he was elected to during the Spring General Assembly. Before that, he served as the RCTC Student Government Treasurer, gaining valuable leadership experience. For Marco, it’s all about helping students have a stronger voice and making real change in their educational experience.

Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and raised in Rochester, MN, Marco has always felt a strong connection to his community. Outside of school and leadership roles, he’s passionate about giving back, especially through volunteering for local causes focused on social equity and health.
