3M Skilled Trade Scholarship for Underrepresented Groups
The 3M Skilled Trades Scholarship is designed to support and empower students from underrepresented groups pursuing careers in skilled trades. This scholarship aims to increase diversity within the trades workforce by providing financial assistance to students enrolled in Minnesota technical and community colleges.
With a focus on promoting equity and access to high-demand fields, this scholarship is open to students studying programs such as welding, electrical work, HVAC, manufacturing, mechatronics, renewable energy, and construction. Recipients will be selected based on their commitment to pursuing a career in the skilled trades, academic performance, and their potential to contribute to the workforce in innovative and impactful ways
Four $2,500 scholarships will be awarded for the 2025 Spring Semester only. Applications open October 20th and close December 1st at 11:59pm
Scholarship Qualifications
- Must be from an underrepresented group in skilled trades.
- Enrolled in a skilled trade program at a Minnesota State Technical or Community College
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Demonstrates financial need or other significant barriers to education
Scholarship Requirements
- Complete and submit the online application by December 1st at 11:59pm
- Demonstrate academic status
- Current GPA
- Write a 500 word essay
- Explain which underrepresented group(s) do you identify with in the skilled trades? (e.g., race/ethnicity, gender identity, socioeconomic status, disability, etc.)
