Alex Bender is a student attending Anoka Ramsey Community College’s Coon Rapids campus and is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Networking there. They’re making a return to higher education after some years away and have been diving back into student leadership and advocacy with a renewed passion. As the student senate president of their campus, they seek to lead students in reconnecting with the college experience and getting involved with their campuses again. Alex’s focuses are on connecting students with each other and showing them how exciting, engaging, and rewarding leadership can be.

Alex joined LeadMN in its earlier incarnation, MSCSA, and learned a passion for making student voices heard and working with other student leaders to improve the conditions of those they represented. Upon returning to the organization they felt the buzz of excitement and drive brought on by LeadMN’s new leadership and felt compelled to contribute as much as possible. Naturally, they jumped at the opportunity to join the Governing Council and start representing student voices on a larger scale than they ever could before.

Alex currently lives in Circle Pines where they spend much of their free time with their friends playing games and telling stories together. They have a passion for Tabletop Roleplaying, needlessly complicated board games, and anything else that gets the people they love around a table together. Outside of leisure, Alex works retail and spends much of their time focused on leading their campus’ Student Senate as they work together to breathe new life into student clubs and organizations.
