Hazel Thorp

Office Manager

From 2015-2018 Hazel attended Rochester Community and Technical College and worked as a caregiver part time while taking classes. At this time, she became actively involved with student government on campus. Through this she realized she had a passion for working on projects that advocated for student interests, especially in helping with voter registration. That led her to intern with LeadMN in 2018 as a Get Out the Vote Intern, where Hazel was able to connect with students one-on-one about current issues.

In 2018 Hazel obtained an associate’s degree from RCTC and transferred to Minnesota State University, Mankato where she pursued a bachelor’s in Communications with a minor in Public Administration. During Hazel's time there, she stayed involved with student leadership opportunities on campus, while working as an elementary school reading tutor. In 2021 Hazel graduated with a bachelor’s and worked as an assistant teacher at a preschool program and then as a site manager with the program. In 2022, Hazel moved from southern MN and relocated closer to the cities to be near family.

Hazel is excited to work for an organization that drives for positive changes for two-year college students across the state, and to hear about the different ideas and experiences that students will share.

Hazel enjoys gardening, hiking, practicing guitar, and reading. She spends as much time as she can outside, and enjoys spending time with family and friends and finding good spots for coffee.
