Minnesota State students have the opportunity to apply for scholarships twice a year through LeadMN. Students across Minnesota work hard to maintain academics, extracurricular activities, personal lives, work, and more. Scholarship recipients are deserving students and we are proud of each and every one of them.

Sixty-five students submitted an application for an opportunity to be selected for a scholarship. Each applicant was required to complete the scholarship application and an unofficial transcript, and depending on which scholarship(s) they were applying for had to submit one or two letters of recommendation, a leadership resume, a letter of application describing their academic, career and personal goals, and a statement of need. The Scholarship Board members review all applications which have met the criteria and selected 19 students.

Diana

Meet Diana Nguyen from Saint Paul College. She is one of our many deserving scholarship receipts for the 2020 Fall Semester. Last semester, she also received the John and Kathryn O’Brien Scholarship. She will now be awarded the Christine Rice Annual Scholarship. Criteria for the Christine Rice Annual Scholarship is the student must be a woman enrolled at a Minnesota State two-year college in a health/medical program, full- or part-time.

“Saint Paul College is a very culturally diverse school. Diana Nguyen has taken the initiative to immerse herself into this diversity by working with a variety of students in the lab and studying with them outside of class.” – Biology Professor Rachel E. Hudson, Saint Paul College

Diana Nguyen grew up in the Twin Cities. She is a graduate of the University of Saint Thomas with a B.A. in Biomedical Studies. Her passion has always been and continues to be on healthcare and the role of society and the environment in driving healthcare outcomes for individuals in diverse communities. She is currently attending Saint Paul College, taking the nursing prerequisites to get into the entry-level Master of Nursing at Metropolitan State University. She would love, and her ultimate goal is, to work as a public health worker in an under-served community because good quality healthcare should be accessible to all people.
