LeadMN proposed changes to Minnesota State policies for tuition refunds. We advocated that to the Chancellor to make the policy more clear and inclusive for the challenges that students face so that students that are dealing with a significant crisis. A few weeks ago, the system office released their draft policy and are seeking comment. LeadMN submitted the letter below applauding the creation of the policy and two ways that the policy could be made better:

LeadMN joined a coalition of 62 colleges, student groups, civil rights and higher education organizations delivered a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer urging Congress to pass America’s College Promise through budget reconciliation.

Lake Superior College held their second annual flu shot clinic Tuesday morning. The organization Lead MN partnered with Hennepin Healthcare to get students the flu vaccine at the college. Roughly 80-100 students had registered to receive the shot helping to minimize the hospital intake because of the virus.

The 2020 Census showed Minnesota is becoming more diverse. LeadMN's work was critical to ensure students at community and technical colleges were counted and receive funding and representation in Congress.

Many Minnesota colleges and universities are requiring vaccines, enforcing mask mandates, and providing frequent testing in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. LeadMN has encouraged a robust statewide vaccine education campaign across all universities and colleges to dispel myths and promote students' health and well-being.
