On February 19 students from all across that state of Minnesota came together to make their voices heard at the Minnesota State Capitol. On the first day of Advocacy Day, students met Senate President Michelle Fischback and Chair of the Higher Education and Career Readiness Policy and Finance committee Representative Bud Nornes. Both Senator Fischback and Representative Nornes spoke about their background working on higher education policy at the legislature.

The next day, students met with their legislators to communicate their concerns about the skyrocketing costs of textbooks and urged them to make LeadMN’s affordable textbook legislation a top priority for this session. Students put all their hard work to the test during these meetings and moved forward legislation that addresses issues that directly affect them.

New this year!

LeadMN Day on the Hill

On April 5 students will have the opportunity to keep this momentum going at LeadMN Day on the Hill. We will have one last chance to make sure the bills we advocated for on Advocacy Day are still on the minds of our legislators as the final legislative deadline approaches. This one-day event is a great opportunity to bring new students to the Capitol and recruit them into your senate. Students will also have the opportunity to network with various lobbyists about their career and how they got to where they are today. Register to attend LeadMN Day on the Hill help make a difference for students this session!
