The Emerging Leader program gives students the skills and confidence to prepare them for their career after school. Students will participate in monthly meetings with a cohort of other student leaders. There is a fee of $20 for any Minnesota Community and Technical College students.
Learning Objectives:
- Help learners develop awareness of and improve proficiency in the essential skills for success in the workforce—regardless of their industry of interest or professional path
- Encourage learners to identify personal strengths and challenges within these skillsets and identify practices and techniques to help them grow
- Prepare learners to step more confidently into an interview-setting—empowered to answer application and interview questions with demonstrated knowledge of interpersonal and team-based skills required for workforce success
The course is broken into five lessons with learner workbooks and course-based discussion guides on the following skills:
- Communicating with Purpose (Verbal and Nonverbal Communication)
- Next-Level Listening (Listening)
- The Art of Feedback (Giving and Receiving Feedback)
- Building a Dream Team (Team-Building and Development)
- Inspiring Collaboration (Collaboration)
