Testimony to the Minn State Board on Making Decisions -October Meeting
With the election less than two weeks away, our attention will quickly turn to the upcoming legislative session and how that will impact students access to quality affordable education in Minnesota. This conversation comes at a time when students are facing unprecedented challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We ask that the Board of Trustees makes decisions with a sense of empathy and urgency.

Minnesota Legislature Passes Historic Bonding Bill
During the fifth special legislative session of the year the Minnesota House of Representatives and the Minnesota Senate passed a $1.9 billion bonding bill, the largest in state history. Included was $90 million for Higher Education Asset Preservation and Replacement and projects at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.
Star Tribune: At community colleges, new hurdles in turning out the vote
There are signs the full-court press is working. All told, LeadMN has registered more than 3,000 students to vote this year. The puppy event alone resulted in about 150 sign-ups. Statewide, registration among students 18-24 is up 12% over 2016.
